How To Avoid Multitasking

5 Ways You Should Do To Avoid Multitasking

Hi, there, Matea here 🙂 The reason I write an article about multitasking is to share my struggle with doing multiple tasks at once. I realized that´s completely wrong just because I see that on other people in both personal and work life.

As we live in a fast working life, most of us don´t have enough time for ourselves. Perhaps you don´t have a proper lunch, or you have to finish work so you end up eating while you work.

The good news is that you can change it 😀 Let me share how to avoid multitasking first, and then you can find out how to change your lifestyle, living a life you really want to live.

I´ll share 5 tips do in order to avoid doing multiple things, tasks at once.

Today, I wanted to write about multitasking and how to avoid it., both personally and professionally.

To do two things at once is to do neither.

What is Multitasking?

When you try to do two things at once, you either can´t or won´t do either well. If you think multitasking is an effective way to get things more done, you´ve got it backward.

Multitasking is merely the opportunity to screw up more than one thing at a time” — by Steve Uzzell

More than six million webpages offer answers on how to do it, and career websites list “multitasking” as a skill for employers to target and for prospective hires to list as a strength.

Some have gone so far as to be proud of their supposed skill and have adopted it as a way of life.

But it’s actually a “way of a lie,” for the truth is multitasking is neither efficient nor effective. In the world of results, it will fail you every time.

While you might be feeling like you’re accomplishing a lot, you’re actually not allowing your brain to organize your thoughts — and technology isn’t helping, either. For instance, it might be hard for you to focus on a project you’re working on when you’re constantly getting notifications from your phone and computer.

Here are 5 ways how you can avoid multitasking:

1) ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS

Stop looking at social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Pinterest, Pinterest if you want to avoid distractions. Your daily tasks have to be done, no notification can´t stop you. Otherwise, you´re gonna do multiple tasks at once, and not end with a good result.

“To become successful unitasker, you need to do the same type of thing; eliminate any outside distractions,” says Andy Teach, author of From Graduation To Corporation, in an interview with Forbes.

2) SCHEDULE YOUR TIME PROPERLY

According to Time, clutter tasking is a technique when you do certain assignments during specific times of the day. For instance, only checking your email right when you get into the office and right before you leave.

Allow yourself to schedule specific moments, instead of checking your email throughout the day.

3) FOCUS ON THE RIGHT GOALS YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE

According to Oprah.com, schedule a small amount of time where you can just deal with a mentally challenging task. Once you complete that, extend the time even further so you can strengthen your focus.

4) BE AWARE OF YOUR HABITS

Track your workday, if you want to avoid multitasking habits. According to LinkedIn, keep a journal or log to help identify patterns of how effective your work and when you get distracted. It can keep you aware of your weak moments when you lose focus so you can fix them for the future.

5) MEDITATE IN THE MORNINGS

Meditation morning

You can meditate for 10 minutes to start every day. Morning meditation is how to start your own routine. Meditation gives you energy-boosting endorphins that can replace coffee as a morning pick-me-up.

There is no excuse to start meditating even before you go to work. Or…nowadays, many people are lockdown staying at home, which would be the best time to use your spare time.

I warmly hope this post will help you in your daily life, both personally and professionally. One thing to do to help others is the biggest thing I can do for you.
